Remembering Tom Karpeichik

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our longtime friend and dedicated FRAA board member, Thomas “Tom” Karpeichik, who passed away on the morning of May 13, 2026, at the age of 86.

On behalf of the Farmington River Anglers Association, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Tom’s family and loved ones.

Tom was one of the pillars of the Farmington River Anglers Association. His dedication, leadership, and countless contributions over the years helped shape FRAA into the organization it is today. Simply put, our club would not be where it is without his passion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to our mission and our members.

In recent years, Tom served on the FRAA Board as our Treasurer, but his service to the organization extended far beyond that role. For many years, he organized the FRAA Annual Banquet each March, by far our organization’s largest fundraising event. Tom spent countless hours throughout the year planning the banquet, contacting donors, gathering raffle and auction items, coordinating ticket sales, and overseeing every detail of the event. To those of us on the Board, the annual banquet was always “Tom’s event.”

In recognition of his extraordinary dedication and lasting impact on FRAA, we are honored to announce that the annual banquet will be renamed in his memory. Starting in 2027, it will be known as the Tom Karpeichik FRAA Annual Banquet, a lasting tribute to the man whose hard work and commitment made it such a success for so many years.

Beyond everything he accomplished for FRAA, Tom was a trusted friend and mentor to many. He welcomed new members, shared his knowledge freely, and formed lasting friendships throughout the angling community. His generosity, wisdom, and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing Tom. We are grateful for the many years we shared with him and will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and friendship he brought to our lives.

Tom’s impact on our organization, our river, and our community will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of anglers to come, and he will be deeply missed.
